Women's Basketball, Lead By Brown's 22 points, Cruise Past Campbell 77-53

CONWAY, S.C. — Redshirt sophomore Courtney Brown scored a season high 22 points, while junior Nikki Reddick added 14, as the Coastal Carolina women's basketball team cruised to a 77-53 victory over Campbell Tuesday evening in Kimbel Arena.

Brown connected on 7-of-10 shots from the floor, including a perfect 4-for-4 from three point land. Crystal Brown finished with 11 points and ten rebounds, in recording her first double-double of the season. Campbell (1-1) was led by Kristal Troy who had nine points, along with five rebounds and four steals.

After a slow start, Coastal built a 40-22 halftime lead as the Lady Chants took advantage of hot outside shooting, connecting on 7-of-10 from three-point land as well as forcing 12 first half Campbell turnovers.

Coastal (2-0) would dominate in the second half extending its lead to as high as 37 points (65-28) with 12:55 left in the second half. The Lady Chants' outside shooting continued to stay on fire as CCU hit 60 percent (12-20) of its shots in the final 20 minutes of play.

"Our defensive pressure and intensity really wore them down," said head coach Alan LeForce. "We played really well tonight on both sides of the ball."

The 24 point margin of victory for the Lady Chanticleers was the largest for Coastal in the series history. CCU has now won five straight against the Lady Camels in the series.

Coastal Carolina will next face Wofford on Friday in Spartanburg, S.C. at 7 p.m., while Campbell hosts High Point on Saturday at
12 noon.
