Women's Basketball Receiving Votes in Associated Press Top 25 Poll
CONWAY, S.C. – After a 4-0 start to the 2008-09 season, the CoastalCarolinaUniversity women's basketball team received votes in the Associated Press Top 25 national rankings released Monday, Nov. 24.
This is Coastal Carolina's first ever appearance in the AP poll in program history.
"This really is a tribute to our kids and how hard they have played in the early going, including last Saturday's win over Jacksonville," Head Coach Alan LeForce said. "We have a great chemistry working so far and getting contributions from a variety of players, as we have yet to see our full lineup in a game due to illness and injuries. While this is great for our program, we have to get ready tonight for a tough College of Charleston game, and they will be ready to play for the first time in their new home arena."
The Chants opened the season blowing past Erskine 65-49, followed by a 52-50 win over Campbell. Coastal Carolina then traveled to Wofford and edged the Terriers 67-64, before returning home where they overwhelmed Jacksonville 63-44.
The Chanticleers return to the court Tuesday, Nov. 25 where they will face College of Charleston, where the Cougars open their home slate at the new Carolina First Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
