Women's Basketball Open Season With Win Over Coker, 83-59

CONWAY, S.C. — Junior Crystal Brown scored a career high 20 points, as Coastal Carolina cruised past Coker College, 83-59 in women's basketball action Saturday evening in Kimbel Arena.

Coastal (1-0) raced out to a 13-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game and never looked back as the Lady Chants stretched the lead to as high as 25, at 45-20 at halftime. The Coastal defense held the Lady Cobras to only 29.2 percent shooting in the first half, while forcing 24 turnovers in the opening twenty minutes.

The Lady Chants would come out in the second half on a 15-9 run in the first 4:42 of the second half and stretch its lead to 31 points, at 60-29.

Redshirt sophomore Courtney Brown added 14 points along with 3 rebounds and 4 steals, while redshirt junior Nikki Reddick scored 11 points, while dishing out 8 assists.

The Lady Chanticleers return to action on Tuesday against Campbell at 7 p.m. in Kimbel Arena.
