Hoopla '09, an event to raise awareness of the Coastal Carolina University basketball program, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19 at Kimbel Arena. The event features a food contest, introduction of Coastal basketball players and coaches and free giveaways for fans.

Hoopa '09 is free and open to the public.

The men's and women's basketball teams will each have a 15-minute scrimmage. Coach Cliff Ellis, head men's basketball coach, and Alan LeForce, head coach of the women's basketball team, will speak briefly and give away a flat screen television.

A dunk team, laser show and step show will be presented by a Coastal Carolina fraternity, along with a Balloon Stomp for cash for fans. Teal Coastal T-shirts will be thrown out by cheerleaders, and fans can have their photo taken with members of the team for mascot Chauncey's Facebook page.

Interactive competition with the team will include a three-point contest, dunk contest and more. Food will be available, and a "Taste of Coastal" crown will be awarded in a food vendor competition.
