LeForce to be Inducted Into the University of the Cumberlands Hall of Fame
CONWAY, S.C. –Coastal Carolina University head women’s basketball coach Alan LeForce will be inducted into the University of the Cumberlands Athletics Hall of Fame this Saturday Oct. 6. This will be the fourth Athletics Hall of Fame that LeForce will be a part of, joining the College of Charleston, EastTennesseeState and Williamsburg (Ky.) High School.LeForce is a 1957 graduate of the University of the Cumberlands, located in Williamsburg, Ky. He also was an assistant coach for his alma mater during the 1961-62 season. LeForce enters his 11th year as head coach at Coastal. He has a 143-138 record at the school and a 383-318 overall record in 25 years as a collegiate head coach. Coastal has recorded back-to-back 18-win seasons and LeForce coached the Big South Player of the Year in Alisha Dill and three Big South All-Freshman Team members (Lacey Lyons, Devin Rivers and Amanda Stull).LeForce made college basketball history in 2004-05 when he won his 100th game at Coastal Nov. 30, 2004. LeForce is the only head coach to accumulate 100 wins as a Division I men’s and women’s head coach and has 100+ wins at the public high school level, the private high school level and in the men’s NAIA level.This will be the second Athletics Hall of Fame LeForce has been inducted into in the last year. LeForce was a member of the 2006-07 class at EastTennesseeState and was inducted into the Hall of Fame Jan. 20, 2007.The CoastalCarolinaUniversity women’s basketball team will open the 2007-08 season with an exhibition game Sunday, Nov. 4 against Queens. Game time is at 2 p.m.
