Women's Basketball Signs Ahaus to National Letter-of-Intent

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina University women's basketball Head Coach Alan LeForce announced the signing of Katie Ahaus (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport (Vincennes)) to a National Letter-of-Intent Tuesday, May 5.

Ahaus, a 5-7 point guard, comes to Coastal Carolina after spending the past two years honing her skills at Vincennes University, a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Ahaus finished the season nationally ranked 11th in field goal percentage and 14th in assists after shooting 60.1 percent from the floor and tallying 5.3 assists per game, helping the Lady Traiblazers to the District C Championship this season.

"Katie is a very good shooter," LeForce commented. "She's a floor general with great basketball awareness and should step in and help us."

The Indianapolis native put up significant numbers during the 2009 NJCAA National Championship, averaging 13.2 points and 4.5 assists in four games and shooting a blistering 76.9 percent from the floor and 83.3 percent from the foul line for the Lady Trailblazers.

With the addition of Ahaus, Coastal Carolina adds depth to the roster as the Chanticleers do not lose any players to graduation this season.
