Women's Basketball Signs Moss to National Letter-of-Intent

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women’s basketball program has announced the signing of Sydnei Moss (North Augusta, S.C./North Augusta) to a National Letter-of-Intent, head coach Alan LeForce announced April 16. Moss joins Courtney Grambley (Morrow, Ohio/Little Miami), Jessica Noll (Myrtle Beach, S.C./St. James), Kate Jasinski (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) and Katie White (St. Charles, Ill./East) in the 2007-08 signing class.

Moss, a 5-10 guard/foward, is a three-time Region IV AAAA Player of the Year and is a three-time Augusta Chronicle Player of the Year while playing at North Augusta High School. She also was a three-time All-South Carolina selection. Moss averaged 17 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 3.5 steals a game for the Yellow Jackets her senior season. She connected on 59.2 percent of her field goals and 70.9 percent of her free throws in 2006-07. In her career, Moss scored over 1,500 points, grabbed over 800 rebounds, had 234 steals and 92 assists. She was named the Outstanding Female Athlete in 2007 by the Greater Augusta Sports Council and took part in the North Carolina/South Carolina All-Star Game her senior year. Moss helped North Augusta to a runner-up finish in the Crescent Bank Holiday Invitational Tournament in Myrtle Beach this past year and was on the All-Tournament Team. Moss is the only player in North Augusta history to play varsity basketball in the eighth grade.

"Sydnei is an athlete," LeForce said. "She can play anywhere on the perimeter. She can score, she can put the ball on the floor. She’s quick and strong. She’s an athlete that can play basketball. We were looking for an athlete and we couldn’t find anyone better than Sydnei."

Coastal Carolina ended the season with an 18-11 overall record and a 9-5 Big South record. The 18 wins in the regular season tied Coastal’s record for wins in a regular season by a Division I program. The Lady Chants bowed out of the Big South Tournament to eventual Big South Tournament champion UNC Asheville March 8.
