Sophomore Kate Jasinski had a game-high 22 points for the Chanticleers, while classmate Sydnei Moss tallied 10 points and nine rebounds. Winthrop had four players in double figures, paced by Ashley Fann's 15 points.

After the game started in a defensive struggle through the first six minutes (12 points combined), the teams traded baskets until Coastal Carolina went ahead 14-13 on Jasinski's three-pointer at
11:49. Winthrop went on an 8-0 run over the next 2:45 to give the Eagles a 21-14 lead at 8:04.

Coastal Carolina struggled to make a basket and Winthrop was able to stretch its lead to 12 points at 28-16 with 6:04 remaining in the half and the Chants went into the lockerroom down 37-20 at the break.

In the second half, Coastal Carolina cut the deficit to 16 points with a triple by Jasinski to put the score at 46-30 with 13:31 left to play.
The Lady Eagles continued to attack the basket and grabbed their largest lead of the game at 64-40 with just under seven minutes left in the game. A three-pointer by sophomore Jessica Noll trimmed the margin back to 16 at 64-48 at the two-minute mark, but the Chanticleers ran out of time to mount a comeback.

Coastal Carolina was outrebounded 46-28 in the game and shot 28.3 percent from the floor, while Winthrop shot 45.1 percent from the field. The Lady Eagles also outscored the Chanticleers 32-6 in the paint.

Winthrop Head Coach Bud Childers
"We did a good job of executing today. We have a good group of seniors and they led us to a win today. I think they were really focused at what we wanted to do. We're excited about moving on to the semifinals and playing against
Liberty."

Coastal Carolina Head Coach Alan LeForce
"It's a 40-minute game and we played five. They beat us on the boards, and we just didn't play.  If you don't play in a tournament, you are going to get beat and go home."
