HIGH POINT, N.C. – Coastal Carolina standouts Sydnei Moss and Katie White were both named All-Big South
Thursday evening as the conference office announced its annual postseason awards.
Moss was tabbed a Big South Conference second team member for the second consecutive year. White was named to the Conference’s All-Academic team and selected as the League’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Coastal Carolina head coach Alan LeForce has now coached back-to back scholar-athletes of the year as Amanda Stull claimed the award last season.
Moss, also a pre-season all-conference selection, is Coastal Carolina’s leading scorer averaging 11.8 points per game overall and 13.2 points per game in Big South Conference tilts. The North Augusta, S.C. native’s scoring average ranks 11th in the Big South this season while her shooting percentage of 34.8 ranks 13th. She is the Chants leading rebounder averaging 7.7 boards a game, which also ranks fifth in the conference this season. She is also the third ranked defensive rebounder in the league averaging 5.35 per game. Her average of 1.5 steals per game is good for a 15th overall in the conference. She was tabbed the Big South Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 31 after averaging 18 points and 13.5 boards against Radford and Winthrop. In the first game of the season she became the 11th player in Coastal Carolina history to score 1,000 career points. Additionally, she is one of only two active Big South members of exclusive 1,000 point / 500 rebound club.
White, who hails from St. Charles, Ill., is a two time First-Team Capital One All-Academic District III selection. She currently ranks 25th in the NCAA and third in the Big South with 65 blocks this season (2.4 per game). She is Coastal’s fourth leading scorer averaging 4.4 points per game. Her career total of 207 rejections is tops in the Coastal record books and ranks sixth on the Big South all-time list. White has been named to the President’s list in each of her seven semesters at Coastal. She currently holds a team high 4.0 GPA as an accounting major. She is also a member of the Beta Alpha Psi and Beta Alpha Sigma international honor societies.
The No. 8 seed Chanticleers will take on top seeded Liberty at Noon on Friday, March 11 in the opening quarterfinal round game of the Big South Women’s Basketball Tournament held at High Point’s Millis Center.
