Adams Named Sun Belt Player of the Week
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Jas Adams of the Coastal Carolina women's basketball team was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Adams' third Player of the Week award of the season follows a pair of victories at the HTC Center as the Chants closed out their 2017-18 home schedule. Coastal defeated Troy on Thursday before coming from behind to top South Alabama on Saturday.
In the win over Troy, Adams became just the second student-athlete in Coastal Carolina women's basketball history to reach 40 points in game, while also setting the HTC Center single-game scoring record. The senior guard also hauled in 11 rebounds for her second double-double season.
Adams followed with 19 points and eight rebounds against South Alabama. She scored 12 of her points in the fourth quarter of that game, helping Coastal erase a nine-point deficit and go on a 25-0 run in the first nine minutes of the final frame.
For the week, Adams averaged 29.5 points and 9.5 rebounds. She has retaken the lead in the Sun Belt's scoring race, averaging 18.7 ppg with three games remaining in the regular season.
Coastal plays all three of its remaining games on the road, beginning with a trip to Arkansas this week to take on Little Rock (Feb. 22) and Arkansas State (Feb. 24).
