The Chants And The Lancers
Thursday's meeting between Coastal Carolina and Longwood marks the second in the season series and fourth in the all-time series. The Lancers have won each of the previous three games against the Chants, including their 77-63 come-from-behind win on Jan. 19 in Farmville.
A Look At Longwood
After jumping out to a 6-1 Big South record that put them atop the league standings, Longwood has dropped its last two games at High Point and Liberty by 17 and 33 points, respectively. The losses have moved the Lancers to fifth in the Big South standings entering the second half of conference play.
The Lancers feature three of the Big South's top 10 scorers in Crystal Smith (4th, 16.4 ppg), Chelsea Coward (5th, 15.5 ppg) and Daeisha Brown (10th, 13.1 ppg). However, Longwood does surrender the most points in the league at 72.1 per contest. Through 20 games Longwood has gave up 70-plus points on 13 occasions.
The Chants' 73-68 win over UNC Asheville on Jan. 26 snapped the team's five-game losing skid. Coastal rallied from an early deficit to tie the game at 28 with 4:02 remaining in the first half before finishing the period on a 9-3 run to take a 37-31 lead into the intermission. The Bulldogs rallied to tie the game at 59 late in the second half, but the Chanticleers responded to outscore Asheville 14-3 the rest of the way.
Starters Score 68

Each starter finished in double figures with Henry leading the way with 19 points. The last time Coastal had all five starters score 10-plus points was Jan. 3, 2009, also against UNC Asheville.
