Storylines
Cole Earns Third Big South Honor
Shatia Cole has been tabbed The Crons Brand Big South Freshman of the Week for games played Jan. 17-23, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
This is the third time this season Cole has earned the honor. The Myrtle Beach native joins Brooke Weisbrod (four Big South Freshman of the Week plaudits during the 1997-98 season) as the only two student-athletes in Chanticleer women's basketball history to garner three Big South Freshmen of the Week honors.
Cole, a point guard, averaged 17 points per game and shot 54 percent from the field in Coastal Carolina's two games last week. She connected on 60 percent of her shots from the floor to finish with a career-high 20 points against High Point and followed that performance with 14 points against Campbell on Jan. 23. In the two game span, Cole also chipped in six rebounds, eight assists and three steals.
