CONWAY - Coastal Carolina women's basketball returns to the hardwood of Kimbel Arena for a two game homestand starting on Saturday, Jan. 14 as hosts to rival Liberty. The game, which is the first of a doubleheader with the men's team, is slated to tip off at 2 p.m.

Last Meeting: Coastal Carolina and Liberty last met on March 11, 2011 in the quarterfinal round of the Big South Tournament with the Flames prevailing with a 51-44 victory. Coastal led by two at the half, but Liberty held the Chants to only 18 second half points to secure the come from behind win. Sydnei Moss concluded her illustrious Coastal career with a game-high 25-point performance.

Saturday's game marks the 54 all-time meeting between the long time Big South rivals. The Coastal Carolina/Liberty series dates back to the 1988-89 season. The Chants won six of eight meetings from 1992 through 1996, but have not won since. Liberty defeated Coastal in all three of the teams meetings last season to up its winning streak to 36 straight games.

A Look at the Liberty Flames
Liberty, who was picked as the preseason favorite to win the Big South Conference, enters the game with a 7-7 overall record and a 2-1 mark in Big South play. The Lady Flames split last weekend's conference games falling to High Point in overtime on Saturday before scoring 90 points in a victory over Campbell.

The Lady Flames have established themselves as one of the top rebounding teams in the country as the squad ranks third in the nation with a 15.7 rebound margin.

Guard Devon Brown, the Big South's second leading scorer, is averaging 17.3 points per game as center Avery Warley averages a double-doule with 14.0 points and 11.0 boards per outing.

Home Sweet Home
After a two game road trip that saw the Chanticleers fall at both UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb, Coastal returns home to the friendley confined of Kimbel Arena for a pair of games against Liberty (Jan. 14) and Radford (Jan. 16). Coastal's perfect 8-0 record at home this season is highlighted with a pair of wins over Big South opponents and a victory of Southern Conference member College of Charleston.

Irick Goes For 19
Senior shooting guard Olivia Irick turned in a season-best performance at Gadner-Webb with 19 total points and a career-high tying four 3-pointers. Irick finished the night 7-of-15 from the field, 4-of-9 from deep and 1-of-2 from the charity stripe. Additionally, the Columbia native led the Chanticleers with a game-high three steals.

This Could Get Defensive
Saturday's game against Liberty has the potential to be quite the defensive affair. Coastal ranks second in the conference for scoring defense (56.8 ppg), while Liberty is third (58.4 ppg). Additionally, the Chants have allowed one visiting team to score 60 points in Kimbel Arena this season.

Girl Scout and Mascot Day
The Coastal Carolina vs. Liberty game will be Girls Scout and Mascot Day at Kimbel Arena. Girl Scout troops of Eastern South Carolina are invited to attend. The first 500 Girl Scouts will receive Coastal Carolina University Girl Scout Day Patches. The troop with the most spirited sign in support of Coastal will win a pizza party compliments of Papa John's. The women's basketball team will be available to sign autographs after the game. Additionally, several local mascots will be present to take pictures with kids and sign autographs. At halftime the mascots will take the court and participate in a friendly game of basketball.
