CONWAY- The Coastal Carolina women’s basketball team will take on the Presbyterian College Blue Hose on Monday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. from PC’s Templeton Center. The contest is the Big South Conference season opener for both the Chanticleers and Blue Hose.

Presbyterian Blue Hose
Presbyterian broke a six game losing streak their last time out by defeating Campbell 53-51 to improve to 3-8 on the season.
Presbyterian averages a mere 51.8 points per game and have only scored 60 or more points three times this season. PC is currently being out scored by 7.3 points per game while shooting 36.4 percent from the field.
The Blue Hose are led by Mariah Pietrowski in scoring with 10.2 points per game and 5.7 rebounds. She leads the Big South in shooting and ranks among the top-50 in the nation with a .560 field goal percentage. Shonda Burnside averages 8.3 points per game for second best on the team.
In the defeat to Ohio University, Amanda Mills became PC’c leading scorer in the Division I era with a 12-point performance to push her over the 600 career points plateau.

Oh, What A Night
After leading scorer Sydnei Moss went down in the fourth minute of the game against USC Upstate, Kira Carter and Katie White stepped up and knocked down shots to lead the Chants to victory. Carter scored a Chants season-high 21 points in the contest while White tied her career-high of 17 points. The two combined to shoot 15-of-22 from the floor and 8-of-12 from the free throw line.
Heating Up
Coastal Carolina’s continual shooting improvement produced a season-best 54.0 percent shooting performance in the 70-62 victory at USC Upstate. The Chanticleers went 27-of-50 from the floor to produce the teams highest percentage from the field since the 2008-009 season.
Starters are Scoring
Over the past two games (Butler and USC Upstate) Coastal’s starting lineup has scored 45-plus points. The Chants starters scored 46 points on 40.5 shooting in the defeat at the hands of Butler and accounted for 49 of the 70 points scored against USC Upstate. In the Upstate victory, the starting five shot a season-high 59.4 percent from the field.
The Chants in Conference Openers
Since 2000, Coastal is 4-6 in Big South Conference season openers. Last season Coastal fell to UNC Asheville 59-48. The Chants most recent victory in the conference opener was during the 2008-09 campaign as the ladies from Conway pulled away from UNC Asheville by a 68-55 final.
