Coastal Carolina University womens basketball senior Kim Turner (West Memphis, Ark./Hiwassee C.C.) has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Jan.1, the conference office announced. Turner shares the honor with High Point Universitys Katie Ralls.
Turner averaged 14.5 points per game over the Christmas break, leading the Lady Chanticleers to a 2-0 record. She poured in 17 points against the College of Charleston and corralled eight boards as the Lady Chants downed the Cougars, 58-51 on Dec. 20. On Dec. 31, she rang in the New Year with 12 points on 5-of-10 (50 percent) from the floor, while pulling down five boards in Coastal Carolinas 68-54 win over UNC Greensboro. In the two-game span, she shot 48 percent from the floor and posted one steal and one block.
Turner earns Coastals first Player of the Week honor since Nikki Reddick was named Player of the Week Dec. 1, 2003.
Coastal hosts Savannah State University Monday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. The game can be heard on THE TEAM 93.9 FM in Myrtle Beach.
