AJ Jordan was named a Coastal Carolina women's basketball assistant coach on July 17, 2017.
Jordan played four seasons for the Chants from 2011-15, amassing 1,441 points to rank sixth among Coastal’s all-time leading scorers. She also finished amongst the school’s top 10 student-athletes in scoring average (eighth), field goals made (third), field goals attempted (third), free throws made (eighth) and free throw percentage (sixth), and is the school’s all-time leader in games played with 118.
As a senior in 2014-15, Jordan led the Big South Conference averaging 16.9 points per game while making a league-high 207 shots from the field. She also set the HTC Center’s women’s basketball scoring record with 36 points against Presbyterian.
Jordan was twice voted first team All-Big South, and was a three-time member of the Big South All-Academic Team.
Jordan returns to Coastal Carolina after one year as a women’s basketball assistant at Pensacola State College, a NJCAA institution in Pensacola, Fla. Jordan helped guide the Lady Pirates to an 18-10 overall record in 2016-17, including a 3-9 mark In Panhandle Conference play. Jordan was also instrumental in the development of Nia Johnson and Ahyiona Vason, who were voted first team All-Panhandle selections following this past season.
After graduating from Coastal, Jordan was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Virginia Wesleyan for the 2015-16 season. The Marlins finished the year 9-17 overall and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship.
