Men's Cross Country Finishes 17th in the NCAA Southeast Regional

GREENVILLE, N.C. –The Coastal Carolina University men’s cross country team finished in 17th place in the NCAA Cross Country Southeast Regional Nov. 12 in Greenville, N.C.

Senior Nelson Oliveira (Coimbra, Portugal/Quintas das Flores) led the Chanticleers with 22nd place finish, running in a time of 30:43.1. Olivera earned All-Region honors with his performance. The top three harriers for CCU all ran personal bests, including junior Doug Currie (Sarnia, Ontario, Canada/Northern), who finished 51st with a time of 31:47.6. Senior Justin Foxworth (Georgetown, S.C./Georgetown) finished in 105th place with a time of 32:37.8. Sophomore Blair Paul (Queenston, Ontario/Sir Winston Churchill) and sophomore Jake Morris (Aiken, S.C./Aiken) finished 143rd and 154th, respectively. Paul had a time of 33:23.7 while Morris ran in 33:35.4. Junior Korey Larson (Sanbam, N.Y./Erie C.C.) finished in 174th place with a time of 34:25.4 and junior Brian Chadwell (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington) was in 179th place with a time of 34:38.2.

William and Mary won the team title with 68 points, while Liberty’s Josh McDougal won the race with a time of 29:40.1.

Coastal improved on last year’s 26th-place result and finished ahead of fellow Big South opponents VMI, Radford and UNC Asheville.
