Men's Cross Country Wraps Up Season at NCAA Regional Meet
LOUISVILLE, Ky.,- The Coastal Carolina Men's Cross Country team finished in 18th place out of 32 teams at the NCAA Regional Meet in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday, Nov.11. The top finisher for the Chanticleers was Doug Currie (Sarnia, Ontario/Sarnia Northern) who finished in 48th place with a time of 32:12 in the 10k race.
"I am very proud of Doug," Head Coach Jeff Jacobs said. "This was his best finish ever at the Regional meet. He capped off a great cross country career at Coastal and he has been a great team leader this year."
The second Chanticleer finisher was Max Hacker (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West), who finished in 86th place in a time of 32:53. Next, in 101st place was John Heron (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) with a time of 33:03. The fourth finisher was Jake Morris (Aiken, S.C./Aiken) who ran a personal best time of 33:24 and finished in 122nd place.
Blair Paul (Queenston, Ontario/Sir Winston Churchill) finished in 131st place in 33:31. Following Paul, was Jamie McCarthy (Riverstick, Cork Co., Ireland/North Monastery) who finished the 10k in 33:46 in 144th place. The final Chant finisher was team captain Timmy Supplee (Columbia, S.C./Irmo) who finished in 33:59 in 155th place out of a total of 219 finishers.
"As a team it was a little disappointing," Jacobs said. With Jamie suffering a hip injury, I don't feel like we finished as good as I think we could have, but I am proud of our guys today, they finished a great season and ran a tough race."
