The Coastal Carolina University mens cross country team, under the direction of head coach Jeff Jacobs, travels to Greenville, N.C., to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships, held at Lake Kristi. The 10,000-meter race begins at 12:15 p.m.
The Chanticleers are coming off a third place finish at the Big South Conference Championships. Senior Terah Kipchiris (Kitale, Kenya/Saboti Secondary) finished in second place with a time of 24:14. Sophomore Doug Currie (Sarnia, Ontario/Sarnia Northern) was Coastals other top-10 finisher with a time of 25:46. Coastal is no stranger to the Lake Kristi Course, as it competed in the NCAA Southeast Region Preview Oct. 16. The Chants finished second at ECU and Kipchiris earned a runner-up finish.
Coastal will be one of 45 teams in Greenville, as the Chants will face teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference, Conference USA, the Southern Conference, the Colonial, the Atlantic Sun, the MEAC, the SEC, the Sunbelt, the Ohio Valley as well as the Big South.
The individuals will be looking to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which take place Monday, Nov. 24, in Terre Haute, Ind.
