Men's Cross Country Heads to Greenville for Southeast Regionals

CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina University men’s cross country team, under the direction of head coach Jeff Jacobs, travels to Greenville, N.C., to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships, held at Lake Kristy. The 10,000-meter race begins at 11:00 a.m.   The Chanticleers are coming off a fourth place finish at the Big South Conference Championships. Senior Nelson Oliveira (Coimbra, Portugal/Quintas das Flores) finished third with a time of 25:30 earning All-Big South honors for the third time in his cross country career. Junior Doug Currie (Sarnia, Ontario/Sarnia Northern) also earned All-Big South accolades, finishing eighth with a time of 25:53.   Coastal will be one of 44 teams in Greenville, as the Chants will be facing schools from the Colonial, Atlantic, Big East, and MEAC Conferences, as well as other Big South contenders.   “Our goals for this meet are to finish in the top 15 and place ahead of the Big South teams who beat us at the conference meet.” Coach Jacobs commented.
