Kipchiris Leads Men’s Cross Country to a Third-Place Finish in Big South Championship

Behind a second-place individual performance from senior Terah Kipchiris (Kitale, Kenya/Saboti Secondary (Kenyatta)) Coastal Carolina’s men’s cross country earned a third place finish in the New Balance Big South Cross Country Championship’s on Saturday morning, Oct. 30, held in Rock Hill, S.C.

Kipchiris, the defending conference champion, placed second with a time of 24:14. He was followed by four High Point runners. The Chanticleers had 74 points on the morning to place third as team. Kipchiris also was honored with a place on the Men’s Cross Country All Academic Team.

The High Point Panthers men’s cross country squad earned its third straight indivdual championship. Liberty placed second due in part to the indivdually running of freshman Josh McDougal. McDougal was honored as both the Big South men’s Runner of the Year and the Freshman of the Year and lead this 8k event with a course record run of 23:49.

The men’s cross country will next run in Greenville, N.C. as it participates in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 13.
