Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth At New Balance Big South Conference Championships

LEXINGTON, Va. – Coastal Carolina’s men’s cross country team finished fourth out of eight teams in the New Balance Big South Championships Saturday, Oct. 29. CCU finished with a total of 81 points, High Point finished just above the Chanticleers with 80 points, while Liberty distanced itself from the field with 26 points to take the team title.   Senior Nelson Oliveira (Coimbra, Portugal/Quintas das Flores) finished third out of 74 finishers with a time of 25:30, earning All-Big South honors for the third time in his cross country career. Junior Doug Currie (Sarnia, Ontario/Sarnia Northern) also earned All-Big South accolades, finishing eighth with a time of 25:53. Sophomore Blair Paul (Queenston, Ontario/Sir Winston Churchill) had a time of 26:31 to finish 16th, while Justin Foxworth (Georgetown, S.C./Georgetown) placed 19th in a time of 26:39.   CCU will now travel to Greenville, N.C. to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.
