CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Coastal Carolina's Kyle Kling has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the League announced today.
Kling, a junior from Louisville, Ohio, clocked a personal best time of 15:10 to take first place at the Mount Olive Invitational 5K over the weekend. He won the race by a full eight seconds. His effort helped Coastal Carolina finish tied for fourth-place in the event.
Kling has led the Chants across the finish line each of the five meets this season finishing in the top ten of each event. In addition to his personal record setting performance at the Mount Olive Invitational, this season Kling has recorded a season best 6k time of 19:11.90 at the Coastal Carolina Invitational and an 8k time of 25:04.2 at the Blue Ridge Mountain Open.
Kling will return to the course on Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Big South Championship meet as he looks to improve on his fifth place finish at last season's Championship meet.
