CONWAY, S.C. -- The Coastal Carolina men's cross country team will compete in the 2006 New Balance Big South Conference Cross Country Championships presented by UCS on Saturday, Oct. 28. at the Miler Country Club in Summerville, S.C.
The race will feature all nine runners on the Chanticleer roster, including Jamie McCarthy, who took first at the CCU Invitational on Sept. 16 as well as being named Big South Conference Runner of the Week on Sept. 20. The team is currently ranked ninth in the region and are a number two seed going into the race.
Leading the conference is Josh McDougal and the Liberty Flames. McDougal has won every race he has participated in this season. The Chants will rely on their depth in order to finish strong in the championship race.
"Our ultimate goal this weekend is to finish the meet with five runners in the top 10," Head Coach Jeff Jacobs said. "There is some excellent competition in our conference and it is exciting going into the championship after having a great regular season. I feel that we are in the running for the Championship for the first time in many years and we have to continue to run well as a team."
The 2006 New Balance Big South Conference Cross Country Championship men's race will begin at 9:45 a.m. and is free to spectators.
