Chants Set for Final Tune-Up at Blue Ridge Mountain Open

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina's men's cross country will compete in the 8-kilometer Gold race at the Blue Ridge Mountain Open on Friday, Oct. 14 in Boone, N.C. The event, which will serve as the Chanticleers final meet before the Big South Championships, is set to start at 3:45 p.m.

A total of 26 teams will toe the starting line in the annual event hosted by Appalachian State. Included in the field are seven Big South Conference foes. Also entered is Furman, who ranks 14th in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Southeast region.

The race will be Coastal's third of the season at the 8k distance after competing in the CCU Invitational and the Paul Short Run. Freshman Evan Niciphor has led the Chants across the finish line in both events recording times of 25:47 at the CCU Invitational and 27:44 at the Paul Short Run. Zach Hensel, also a freshman, recorded a personal best at the Paul Short Run as he completed the course in a 28:19 clip.
