Men's Cross Country Competes at NCAA Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.The Coastal Carolina men’s cross country team finished 37th out of 40 teams in the Men’s White Race during the NCAA Pre-Nationals hosted by Indiana State University, Oct. 13. The Chanticleers totaled 1,073 points. CCU’s top three finishers each clocked in with season-best times and sophomore Max Hacker ((Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West)) recorded a personal best with a 25:15.7 mark.

 

Sophomore Jamie McCarthy (Riverstick, Cork Co., Ireland/North Monastery) led the Chants, placing 169th out of 273 runners with a time of 25:10.7. Hacker finished 178th in 25:15.7. Senior Blair Paul (Queenston, Ontario/Sir Winston Churchill) placed 202nd in 25:30.3. Senior Jake Morris (Aiken, S.C./Aiken) clocked in at 26:40.4 in 255th place and freshman Kevin Davis (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro Horrsham) finished 269th in 27:44.8. Sophomore John Heron (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) did not finish the race due to an injured ankle. 

 

 

Members of the CCU “B” Team competed at the Low Country Invitational at the Mullet Hall Equestrian Center at John’s Island County. Sophomore Ryan Caputo (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) placed ninth out of 35 runners in 16:36 during the 5K race. Freshman Mike Kimmel (Dilsburg, Pa./Northern) finished in 13th in 16:53, while freshman Travis Owens (Fort Mill, S.C./Fort Mill) placed 15th in 17:03 and redshirt freshman David Mead (Columbia, S.C./Ridgeview) was 18th in 17:11

 

 

The CCU cross country team returns to action, Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Big South Conference Championships hosted by UNC Asheville in Hendersonville, N.C. Race time is scheduled for 9:45 a.m.
