Men's Cross Country to Compete in NCAA Pre-Nationals
CONWAY, S.C. -- Coastal Carolina's men's cross country team will head to Terre Haute, Ind. to compete in the NCAA Pre-National Meet with a field of 87 teams, including 23 of the top 30 teams in the nation.
This will be the first time the men's team has competed in this meet. The meet will be divided into two equally seeded 8k races. The first race will begin Saturday, Oct. 14th at 12:10 p.m. on and the second will start at 12:50 p.m.
"The team is very excited about the opportunity to compete in such a high caliber meet," head Coach Jeff Jacobs said." This is the best NCAA cross country meet outside of the national championship. It is a great chance for our program to excel at a level we have never been to previously here at Coastal."
The Chanticleers are currently ranked eighth regionally, the highest ranking in the program's history. Leading the team this weekend and coming off an excellent finish in the Paul Short Run will be Jamie McCarthy (Riverstick, Cork Co., Ireland/North Monastery), finishing in 24th place in a time of 24:59 and was named Big South Runner of the Week.
