Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth In Furman Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The men's cross country team of Coastal Carolina finished fourth out of 23 teams in the Furman Invitational Saturday. The Chanticleers tallied 134 points and finished under host Furman University who had a total of 119 points. Virginia Intermount College finsihed second with 60 points and Eastern Kentucky posted 56 points to finish in first. CCU defeated three Big South teams in the meet: Winthrop finished sixth, Radford finished eighth, and UNC Asheville finished tenth.

Out of 173 competitors, Nelson Oliveria (Coimbra, Portugal/Quintas das Flores) finsihed in seventh place with a time of 26:30. Doug Currie (Sarnia, Ontario/Sarnia Northern) finished in 11th with a time of 26:44. Blair Paul (Queenston, Ontario/Sir Winston) Churchill finished with a time of 27:09 in 22nd place.

CCU will compete again October 15 at the Winthrop ACICS Fall Classic competition begins at 10:30 a.m.
