CONWAY - Coastal Carolina's men's cross country team will take part in the 38th-annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. on Friday, Sept. 30. Coastal will compete in the 8-kilometer Brown race section scheduled to start at 12:15 p.m. on Lehigh's Murry H. Goodman Campus.
This year's edition of the prestigious Paul Short Run will feature more than 5,000 runners from 450 colleges and high schools scheduled to compete in races throughout the morning and afternoon. The Chanticleers will be competing against 45 collegiate teams including Big South foe UNC Asheville.
The Chanticleers finished fourth in the Coastal Carolina Invitational their last time out. Leading the way in the 8-kilometer event was freshman Evan Niciphor with a time of 25:47 to place ninth overall. The finish was Niciphor's second top ten finish in his young collegiate career after placing second to teammate Joseph Keitt at the Gamecock Open.
Keitt has also impressed through the first two races of his rookie campaign as he won this first collegiate event with a time of 15:43.44 at the Gamecock Open. Keitt placed 19th against a strong field at the CCU Invitational in the second event of the year. Sophomore returnee Cameron Wells has been the third Chant to cross the finish line in both events this season with time of 16:23.82 and 27:13 at the Gamecock Open and CCU Invitational, respectively.
