Sept. 24, 2010
CONWAY, S.C.- The Chanticleer men’s cross country team is set to travel to Radford, Va. to take part in the Big South Preview meet on Saturday, Sept. 25. The starting gun will fire to begin the meet at 11:30 a.m.
The meet will feature eight of the ten Big South Conference teams; including High Point, who was the runner-up in the Big South last season and is currently ranked 12th in the Southeast Region. The 8k race will be held on the same course as the Big South Championship meet that is slated for Oct. 30.
The Chanticleers will once again look to junior Kyle Kling to lead the way as he has paced the Chants in the two previous meets this season. Kling, who finished fourth in the 6k Coastal Carolina Invitational with a time of 19:11.90, is the highest returning individual finisher from the 2009 Big South Cross Country Championship that will be competing in the meet.
Sophomore Spencer Lange is the only other Chanticleer taking part in the meet that also competed in the Big South Championship meet in 2009. Lange finished the 2009 Championships with at time of 31:26.
Looking to build upon their Coastal Carolina Invitational performances are junior Rob Delviscio, senior John Heron, and freshman Cameron Wells who finished in the top 25 of the meet. Delviscio crossed the finish line in 20:14.20, Heron with a 20:20.40, and Wells in 20:24.90.
