CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina men’s cross country program will host the 7th Annual Coastal Carolina University Invitational/Big South Preview on Saturday, Sept. 17. The meet will be held on the grounds of the Quail Creek Golf Club adjacent to Coastal Carolina University.
The starting gun will fire for the men’s race at 8:30 a.m. with the women’s 5k race at 9:15 a.m.
Coastal finished third in last season’s CCU Invitational tallying 94 points. Rob Delviscio, who finished 13, will be the Chants top returning finisher from a year ago, competing on Saturday.
The Chants are coming off a team victory at the South Carolina Gamecock Open on Sept. 2. Coastal tallied 25 total team points in the victory as freshman Joseph Keitt claimed the win in his first ever collegiate meet. Fellow freshmen Evan Niciphor placed second in the meet followed by sophomore Cameron Wells. Tyler Cummings and Zach Hensel rounded out the Chanticleer scores in seventh and 11, respectively.
Big South rivals Campbell, High Point, Presbyterian, Radford and Liberty will compete in the event. Liberty is the defending champion of the Invitational, while High Point was the deemed the favorite to win the Big South in the conference’s annual preseason coaches’ poll.
