Men's Cross Country Tabbed Fourth in Big South Preseason Poll

CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina men’s cross country team was picked to finish fourth in the Big South Conference, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. Liberty, the three-time Big South Conference champions, earned the top spot with nine first-place votes and 99 out of a possible 100 points. The preseason poll is voted on by the league's coaches.

High Point, who received one first-place vote, and VMI edged out Coastal Carolina for the second and third spots. The Chants finished ahead of Winthrop, Radford, Gardner-Webb, UNC Asheville, Presbyterian and Charleston Southern.

The Chanticleers open the 2008 season at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C., Aug. 29. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
