2011 Big South Championship Complete Men's Results Get Acrobat Reader

CONWAY - The host Coastal Carolina men's cross country team finished seventh at the 2011 Big South Championship meet presented by UCS and Musco Lighting at the Quail Creek Golf Club course on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The Liberty men posted 33 points to win the team title followed by High Point (40) and VMI (83).  In fourth-place was Campbell with 120 points as Winthrop closed the top five with 139 points.  Radford and Coastal Carolina finished for sixth and seventh respectively with tallies of 168 and 197 points.  The Flames' Zac Edwards won the event with a course-record time of 23:56 to pace five Liberty men's runners who finished inside the top 11.

Leading the way for the Chants, as he has in each 8K race this season, was freshman Evan Niciphor earning a 17th place finish with a of 25:26.  Finishing second for Coastal was Joseph Keitt in 34th in a 26:13 clip.  Placing third through fifth for the Chants were Tyler Cummings (26:51), Cameron Wells (27:10) and Rob Delviscio (27:30).

Spencer Lange and Zach Hensel rounded out the Coastal competitors with efforts of 27:33 and 30:07, respectively.  

"The guys competed hard today as evident with six personal-best times," said head coach Jeff Jacobs.  "We have a bright future here at Coastal as each of our top three finishers were freshmen.  There are numerous positives to build upon going forward from this race into the NCAA Southeast Regional."

In addition to his person-best setting day, Wells was named to the Big South All-Academic team for his efforts in the classroom. 

The Chanticleers will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 12 as the team travels to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional.
