BOONE, N.C.- The Coastal Carolina University men's cross country team finished fourth out of 14 teams at the Blue Ridge Open, Oct. 16, at Boone, N.C. in a muddy 8k race hosted by Appalachian State.

The Chanticleers placed ahead of fellow Big South schools, VMI, UNC Asheville, and Radford. However, conference-foe High Point won the open.

Sophomore Kyle Kling finished first for the Chanticleers placing eighth at 25:25.35. Senior Jamie McCarthy finished in 17th place running his season-best at 25:37.87. Following McCarthy in 37th place was redshirt-junior Max Hacker at 26:08.08. Freshman Jarod Williams ran a personal best time of 26:19.77 placing 51st. Senior Ryan Caputo rounded out the Chanticleers top five at 90th place with a time of 27:07.19.

"The guys ran very well," Head Coach Jeff Jacobs said. "I was very happy with the team performance. Today's meet is good momentum going into the Big South Conference Championship meet."

The Chanticleers will participate in the Big South Championship in two weeks on Oct. 31 at High Point, N.C., at 10 a.m
