Men's Cross Country Improves at Blue Ridge Mountain Open

BOONE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina's men's cross country turned in a 19th place finish at the 8-kilometer Blue Ridge Mountain Open hosted by Appalachian State on Friday, Oct. 14.
George Mason won the event with a team score of 40 followed closely by Wake Forest at 57 points. High Point placed third in team scoring with 96 followed by host Appalachian State (127) and Furman (142) to round out the top five. The Chanticleers tallied 512 markers to finish 19th overall. High Point's Patrick Crawford was the top collegiate finisher as he won the meet with a time of 24:38.
Freshman Evan Niciphor was the top placing Chant for the third straight race as he finished 57th overall in the 201 competitor field with a time of 26:25. Cameron Wells was Coastal's second finisher for the first time this season as he placed 123rd with in time off 27:36. Wells improved a full 28 seconds over his 8k time of 28:04 at the Paul Short Run.
Freshmen Zach Hensel and Tyler Cummings crossed the finish line eight seconds apart to take home 133rd and 139th, respectively. Hensel ran a personal-record 27:49 clip as Cummings recorded a 27:57. Spencer Lange rounded out the Coastal competitors with a time of 29:30 to place 180th overall.
