BETHLEHEM, Pa - Freshman Zach Hensel turned in a personal-record 8-kiliometer time of 28:19 to highlight Coastal’s day at the Paul Short Run held on the Campus of Lehigh University on Friday, Sept. 30.
Hensel’s time was six seconds faster than his previous best as he finished 245 of 381 competitors in the Brown race section of the prestigious Paul Short Run.
“Zach ran a great race today,” said head coach Jeff Jacobs. “He prepared well over the past week leading up to this event and I am happy to see his hard work and preparations pay off.”
Freshman Evan Niciphor was the Chanticleers’ top finisher for the second consecutive event as he finished in a 27:44 clip to place 184 overall. Fellow freshman Joseph Keitt followed closely behind Niciphor with a time of 27:52. Sophomore Cameron Wells was the third Coastal athlete to complete the circuit with a time of 28:04. Tyler Cummings (28:11) and Hensel rounded out the scoring for the Chants.
Coastal placed 44th of 46 as a team overall with a total tally of 1,064.
The Chants are off next week before returning to action on Oct. 14 at the Blue Ridge Mountain Open hosted by Appalachian State in Boone, N.C. The race will be Coastal’s final tune-up before hosting the Big South Championship meet on Oct. 29.
