Men's Track and Field's Edelman Named to USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Team

Coastal Carolina University men's track and field senior thrower Jacob Edelman (Dryden, N.J./Dryden) has been named to the 2008 Division I All-Academic Track and Field team, as announced by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Wednesday, August 6. Edelman was one of 267 student-athletes selected for the men's 2008 All-Academic team.

During his senior season with the Chanticleers, Edelman competed at the 2008 NCAA East Regional in the hammer throw, finishing 10th in the final. At the Big South Championship, he scored in three events, placing fourth in the hammer, fifth in shot put and seventh in the discus.

Edelman claimed several titles throughout the 2008 outdoor season, including the top spot at the Florida Relays (hammer), the Chanticleer Classic (hammer and shot put), the Buccaneer Invitational (shot put) and the Battle of the Beach (shot put). Edelman finished off his career at Coastal Carolina as the school record holder in shot put after registering 16.03m (52’ 7.25”) at the 2008 Florida Relays. He is also ranked third All-Time in the hammer, heaving a personal best of 61.30m (201’ 1”) at the 2008 Chanticleer Classic.
 
Edelman graduated from Coastal Carolina with a 3.263 grade-point average in marine science, and will be attending graduate school at SUNY Cortland in the fall.
