INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Coastal Carolina freshman Kyle Hoddy (Griswold, Conn./Griswold) placed 11th in the javelin competition at the 2006 Finish Line USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Junior Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., June 21.
Hoddy, who finished All-Big South by placing in the event at the 2006 Big South Championships, had his best throw on his second attempt with a toss of 55.78m (183' 0"). Hoddy entered the event with a season-best mark of 61.24m (200' 11") set at the 2006 Penn Relays, a mark that ranks third all-time at Coastal. Adam Montague of North Carolina, who also competed at the NCAA Championships, won the event with a throw of 67.88m (222' 8"), achieved on his final throw of the meet.
CCU will have one more competitor at the combined national championships, as sophomore All-American javelin thrower Thomas Jordan (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) will compete in the AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, Sun., June 25 at 12:30 p.m. CDT.
