Men's Track's Jordan Finishes Fifth in NCAA Javelin Preliminaries
SACRAMENTO, CALIF. -- Sophomore javelin thrower Thomas Jordan (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) finished second in his flight and fifth overall in the preliminaries to qualify for the finals at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif., June 8.
The two-time Big South Conference javelin champion had an opening toss of 69.70m (228' 8") to finish second in the first flight of 13 throwers. After the second flight completed competition, Jordan had finished fifth and advanced to Saturday's finals in the event, as the top 12 throwers qualified for the final round. Justin Ryncavage of North Carolina was the top overall qualifier with a toss of 74.14m (243' 3"). The top eight in Saturday's final will be honored as All-Americans.
Jordan's competition will start at 10 a.m. PDT Saturday, June 10.
