Men's Pole Vaulter Johnson Ties For 22nd at NCAA Championships

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. -- Senior Mark Johnson (North Myrtle Beach, S.C./North Myrtle Beach), a four-time Big South champion in the pole vault, completed his career with a tie for 22nd at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 7 in Sacramento, Calif.

The 2005 All-American had been battling an ankle injury for the last month, dating back to the week prior to the NCAA Regionals in Greensboro, N.C. Johnson was able to clear the first height of 5.00m (16'4.75") on his final try but was unable to get over the next height of 5.15m.

CCU's other competitor, sophomore Thomas Jordan, will compete in the Javelin preliminaries Thu., June 8, starting at 1:15 p.m. PDT.
