Men's Cross Country and Track and Field's Paul Named ESPN the Magazine First Team Academic All-District

CONWAY, S.C. -- Coastal Carolina men's cross country and track and field senior Blair Paul (Queenston, Ontario, Canada/Sir Winston Churchill) has been named ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District III First Team University Division, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday, June 5. Paul was one of 11 athletes selected to the First Team and is now eligible for Academic All-America honors.

During cross country, Paul raced in all six of the Chanticleers' meets. He registered two top-10 finishes, including a third place showing at the CCU Invitational. Paul received All-Big South Conference honors after placing 10th at the New Balance Big South Conference Cross Country Championships. He capped off his cross country career with a personal record for a 10K race at the NCAA Regionals, crossing the finish line in a time of 32:35.85.

In the outdoor season, Paul ran career bests in five different events. Among those career best was a race-winning 8:49.40 in the 3,000 meters at Battle of the Beach IV.

Paul graduated from Coastal with a 3.92 grade point average and a degree in marine science. He is a two-time selection to both the Big South Cross Country All-Academic and the Big South Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Teams. Paul was the recipient of the Bob McCloskey Insurance Big South Conference Graduate Fellowship and will receive $2,000 to go towards his graduate studies at the University of California-Santa Barbara.
