Men's Track and Field's Jordan Places Sixth In Javelin at NCAA East Regional
GAINESVILLE, FLA. -- Coastal Carolina senior redshirt junior Thomas Jordan (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest)placed sixth in the javelin at the 2007 NCAA East Regional in Gainesville, Fla., May 26.
Fighting a nagging injury all season, Jordan still managed to improve his season best by over a meter with his throw of 67.55m (221'7") on his first of six throws during the competition. While he did not automatically qualify, Jordan may stil have a chance as an "at-large" compeitor with his distance and will find out Monday, May 28 if he is selected to head to Sacramento, Calif., June 6-9 for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. If selected, it would be the third time in three years (redshirted in 2004-05) that he has made it to the national round. Last season, he earned All-American honors after finishing seventh with a throw of 228'0".
Sophomore Kyle Hoddy (Griswold, Conn./Griswold), making his first appearance in the regional competition, placed 20th in the javelin with a throw of 59.96m (196'9").
