Men's Tracks Signs Four South Carolina Products to Letters-of-Intent

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina men's track and field program has signed four South Carolina area athletes to National Letters-of Intent for the 2005-006 school year, head coach Jeff Jacobs announced today, May 10.

Calesio Newman (Loris, S.C./Green Sea-Floyds) was the 2005 South Carolina (SC) State A champion in the 100m, 100m high hurdles and 200m. Newman's 100m time, 10.44, is the fastest in the state this season. In 2004, he was the state champion in the 100m and the 200m. Eric Singleton (Beaufort, S.C./Beaufort) is the 2005 SC State AAAA discus champion with a throw of 176'8", the best throw in the state in the event this season. Previously at the 2004 SC Championships, Singleton placed third in the discus.

Tyrone Murphy (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) placed third in the 400m high hurdles, fifth in 110 high hurdles and was a member of the seventh-place 4x400m-relayteam at the 2005 SC State AAAA Championships. Aubrey Lemon (Goose Creek, S.C./Stratford) this season placed sixth in the 100m at the 2005 SC State Championships and was a member of the 4x100m team. Last season, Lemon was the state runner up in the 100m.

Coastal's men's track and field squad are set to compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. May 13-14 on the campus of Georgia Tech.
