PHILADELPHIA -- Coastal Carolina's men's track and field team compete in four field events at the 114th Penn Relays Saturday, April 26 as the Chanticleers wrapped up competition at the prestigious meet held at Franklin Field.
Redshirt senior Galen Jones (Evans, Ga./Lakeside) recorded a career-best mark in the hammer throw with a 203'11" (62.16m) launch that placed third in the hammer throw championships and topped his previous career-best of 199'11" (60.95m) by four feet (1.21m). Senior Jake Edelman (Dryden, N.Y./Dryden) took 10th in the hammer throw championships with a mark of 186'8" (56.90m).
Redshirt senior Thomas Jordan (Lebanon Valley, Pa./Cedar Crest) finished fourth in the javelin championships with a season best mark of 218'11" (66.73m).
Redshirt sophomore Jon Wright (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mt. West) was eighth in the javelin college division, throwing 185'5" (56.53m).
Redshirt freshman Jacques Watson (Sumter, S.C./Sumter) cleared 6'9.75" (2.08m) in the high jump championships and finished seventh.
The Chants return to action Sunday, May 4 at the Duke Twilight. Field events are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and track events begin at 5 p.m., from Wallace Wade Stadium.
