Men's Track and Field 4x200-Meter Relay Team Sets School Record at Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA -- Coastal Carolina's men's track and field team began competition at the 114th Penn Relays Friday, April 25 at Franklin Field.
On the track, the 4x200-meter relay team of junior Jarvarius Phelps (Greenwood, S.C./Greenwood), freshman Ryan Edlich (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan), sophomore Ben Wheeler (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg), and sophomore Jerome St. Bernard (Markham, Ontario, Canada/McGivney (Monmouth)) set a new school record, clocking 1:26.21 and finishing fourth in the fifth heat and 15th overall. The quartet broke the previous program record of 1:26.45 that was set earlier this season at the Pepsi Florida Relays by Phelps, Edlich, St. Bernard and sophomore Alex Levy (Columbia, S.C./Spring Valley).
Meanwhile, the 4x100-meter relay team of Phelps, St. Bernard, Wheeler and Edlich ran 41.29 and placed sixth in the second heat and 25th overall.
In the field, freshman Ross Graves (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Myrtle Beach) placed 11th in the high jump college division with a 6'6.75" (2.00m) clearance, which ties his season best. Edlich took 18th in the long jump college division with a 20'6.25" (6.25m) leap.
The Chanticleers return to action at the final day of the Penn Relays Saturday, April 26 at Franklin Field.
