Men's Track & Field Finishes as Runner-Up at Big South Outdoor Championships

Lexington, Va. – Coastal's men's track and field teams wrapped up its third and final day at the Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, Apr. 16 in Lexington, Va. on the campus of Virginia Military Institute at the H.M. Memorial Track. The men's team finished second with 158 points.

For the men, senior Terah Kipchiris (Kitale, Kenya/Saboti Secondary (Kenyatta)) won the 5,000m with a 14:54.12. Junior Nelson Oliveria (Coimbra, Portugal/Quinta das Flores) placed second in the 1,500m, 4:00.63. Freshman Steve Dowens (Red Bank, NJ/Middletown South) placed third in the javelin.

In the pole vault, reigning NCAA East Regional Qualifier, Mark Johnson (North Myrtle Beach, S.C./North Myrtle Beach) won with 4.79m/15'08.50 while teammate freshman Tim Roa (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) placed second with the same mark.

Junior Taylor McFadden (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) is the conference's triple jump champion, 14.93m/48'11.75"

Coastal's track and field programs are next in action on Thursday, Apr. 28 as they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete in the Penn Relays.
