Men's Results from the Second Day of Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships
Lexington, Va. Coastal's track and field teams had a solid second day at the Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, Apr. 15 in Lexington, Va. on the campus of Virginia Military Institute at the H.M. Memorial Track.
For the men, senior Terah Kipchiris (Kitale, Kenya/Saboti Secondary (Kenyatta)) won the 3,000m steeplechase with a season-best time of 9:08.68. Junior Taylor McFadden (Chesterfield, Va./Chesterfield) placed second in the high jump 2.01m/6'7.00". Fellow junior Ray Felton (Hodges, S.C./Greenwood) finished second in the decathalon with 6383 points.
The CCU men had four qualify to compete in Saturday's 400m finals as seniors Kendall White (Columbia, S.C./Richland) and Paul Scheuer (Blackstone, Ill./Dwight Township) and freshman Chad Smith (South Aiken, S.C./South Aiken) finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
Sophomore Chasity Johnson (North Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester) led the women by winning the long jump, 6.02m/19'09". She also qualified to compete in Saturday's finals for the 100m annd 200m dash. Her 200m time of 24.96 was a season-best.
Senior distance runner Lindsey Kozlowski (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Port Arthur) won the 3,000m steeplechase. Sophomore Eileen Wicker (Quinton, Va./New Kent) also earned All-Conference honors with her season-best time, 11:38.27, in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Others to attain All-Conference marks for the Lady Chanticleers include freshman Laura Flath (Lincroft, N.J./Middletown South) as she placed second in the women's pole vault, 3.04m/9'11.75", which is a season-best jump. Junior thrower Brittany Reid (McKinney, Texas/Rowlett (Coffeyville JC) was also All-Conference as finished third in the shot put, 14.19m/46'6.75". Freshman Elisha Tegeder (Barengat, N.J./Southern) had 3924 points in heptathlon to finish second.
Junior Ebony Brown (Columbia, S.C./Eau Claire) qualifed to compete in Saturday's 400m hurdles and 400m dash as she finished, first and second, in each event in the preliminaries.
The Coastal women continue to led the competition with 112.50 points, while the Chanticleer men are third with 46 points.
Coastal's track and field program will continue competing in the Big South Outdoor Championship starting tommorrow at 10:30 a.m with the women's javelin.
