Men's Track and Field Posts Three Season-Best Marks At Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. –Coastal Carolina’s men’s track and field team recorded several season-best results at the first day of the Duke Invitational Friday, April 7.   On the track, freshman Jamie McCarthy (Riverstick, Ireland/North Monastery) posted a personal best in the 1500m run, finishing 21st in 3:53.65. Junior Doug Currie (Sarnia, Ontario/Sarnia Northern) finished 24th in the event with a season best of 3:54.65, while senior Nelson Oliveira (Coimbra, Portugal/Quintas das Flores) finished 27th with a season-best time of 3:54.94.   Junior Galen Jones (Evans, Ga/Lakeside) finished second in the hammer with a mark of 183’11” (56.07m), while junior Tommy Sugishita (Arroyo Grande, Calif./Arroyo Grande (Moorpark JC)) finished fifth with a throw of 175’8” (53.54m).  The Chanticleers will continue to compete Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m. with the men’s high jump.
