This week: ITS BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP TIME!! The 2012 Big South Conference Big South Women’s Golf Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting will be hosted by Gardner-Webb University at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C. from Monday through Wednesday. The second-seeded Chanticleers tee off at 36-hole event on Monday at 10:20 a.m. The Chants are the defending Big South Champions and have claimed the conference crown five times in program history.

This week: The Coastal Carolina softball team travels to Radford, Va. this weekend to take on Radford University. Coastal enters the weekend with a 29-11 overall record and 6-2 in Big South Conference action. Radford is 19-9 on the season and stands atop of the conference standings with a 5-1 record. The Chanticleers and the Highlanders are the only two Big South schools in the Mid Major Top 25 Poll, with Radford ranked #20 and Coastal ranked #22. Coastal remained in the poll for the fifth straight week. Coastal holds the 34-28 advantage in the all-time series. The last time that Coastal beat Radford in Virginia was during the 2007 regular season. The Chanticleers return to the road on Tuesday, April 10 against Charleston Southern. Coastal and Charleston played in a doubleheader earlier this season in Conway, S.C. with the Chants taking the first game 1-0 before the Buccaneers took the second game 1-0.
Last week: Coastal opened the week with its first Big South Conference home games, as the Chants hosted Charleston Southern in a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 28. The Chanticleers earned the 1-0 win in the first game when Kiana Quolas hit a single up the middle during the seventh inning to score Brooke Donovan. Charleston Southern came back in the second game to win 1-0. The Chanticleers then hosted Gardner-Webb in a three game series over the weekend. Coastal took the first game 5-2, before suffering a tough 5-4 loss to the Runnin’ Bulldogs in the second game on Saturday, March 31. During the final game of the series on Sunday, April 1, the Chants used a home run in the sixth inning to help them to a 3-1 victory.

Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field
This week: Coastal will send student-athletes to a pair of meets this weekend. Coastal will primarily send its distance and mid-distance runners to the Duke Invitational, while the Chanticleers that specialize in jumps, throws, hurdles and sprints will travel south to the Auburn Tiger Track Classic.
Currently 10 Chanticleers (four men, six women) rank in the top 48 of the NCAA East Region standings, the standard qualifying list from which the NCAA East Preliminary Round field is determined. Additionally, Jason Flanagan's school and conference record javelin mark of 72.87m (239-01) ranks seventh in the NCAA.
Last Week: Coastal splits its squads sending student-athletes to both the Raleigh Relay and the UNF Invitational.
A trio of distance runners represented the Chants at the Raleigh Relays where both Kyle Kling (31:37.4) and Letitia Saayman (36:21.70) turned in 10,000m performances that rank in the top 20 of the NCAA East Region.
At the UNF Invitational, senior Jason Flanagan stole the headlines as he unleashed a Coastal Carolina and Big South record throw of 72.87m (239-01) in the javelin. Additionally, Erica Peake and Kierra Gabe used stellar performances in the 100m and high jump, respectively, to secure placing in the top 48 of the NCAA East Region. In all, Coastal concluded the rain-shortened meet with 37 top-10 worthy finishes.

This week: Coastal is scheduled to play three matches this upcoming week beginning with a battle for first place in the Big South against Winthrop. Coastal travels to Rock Hill on Friday, April 6 at 2 p.m., followed by a non-conference home match on Tuesday, April 10, against Louisiana Lafayette at 1 p.m. The following day (Wednesday) Coastal will play its last road event against Charleston Southern beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Last week: Coastal won its only match last weekend 7-0 against Presbyterian to push its record to 13-3 and 5-0 in the Big South.

This week: Coastal travels to Rock Hill for its last conference road match of the season on Friday, April 6 against Winthrop beginning at 2 p.m. The men will then hosts its Senior Day match against South Carolina State on Monday, April 9 at 1 p.m.
Last week: In Coastal’s only match last week they defeated Presbyterian College 4-3 on Sunday, April 1 at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center. Coastal is now 11-3 and 3-1 in the Big South.
