Men's Track and Field Return to Action This Weekend

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men’s track and field team will be back in action this weekend. On Friday and Saturday, Apr. 6 and 7 the team will be represented in three different meets.  The team wil head to the Texas Relays, Florida Relays and the Duke Inivitational.   All-American Thomas Jordan (Lebanon Valley, Pa./Cedar Crest) will throw at the 80th Annual Texas Relays. Jordan finished third at this meet last season. The field will include the defending national champion plus three more NCAA finalists from 2006. The javelin competition is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 7.   The Coastal sprinters, jumpers and throwers, will head to the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. The 2007 NCAA Regional qualifiers Kyle Hoddy (Griswold, Conn./Griswold) and Tommy Sugishita (Arroyo Grande, Calif./Arroyo Grande (Moorpark JC)) will compete. Hoddy will compete in the javelin and Sugishita will be in the discus and hammer throw. School record holder Aubrey Lemon (Goose Creek, S.C./Stratford) will run in the 100 and 200 meters. Jack Hutchinson (Chester, Md./Kent Island) and Tyrone Murphy (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) will compete in the hurdle events.   The CCU distance crew will head to Duke University to run in the Duke Invitational. Ten distance runners will compete including Doug Currie (Sarnia, Ontario/Sarnia Northern) in the 5,000 meters. Currie is currently ranked third in the Big South in the event.
